Been in a Wreck? Start Here

What to do, in order, and what you are allowed to decide for yourself.

First, at the scene

Get somewhere safe and call the police. Photograph everything: both vehicles, all four corners, the plates, the position of the cars, the street, and any damage that is not obvious. Get the other driver’s name, insurance company and policy number. If there were witnesses, get a phone number before they leave.

Do not agree to settle anything at the scene, and do not say the damage looks minor. You cannot see what is behind the bumper cover.

Then, the tow

If the car is not drivable, where it goes is your decision. A random tow truck takes it wherever that company’s contract sends it, which is often an impound lot or a shop you have never heard of, and you pay to move it a second time.

We have a dedicated tow driver on call. 24 hour towing, nights and weekends included, straight to our shop on Airline Drive. (504) 884-7883.

Then, the adjuster

Report the claim. When the adjuster asks where the vehicle is going, tell them. That is your call to make, not theirs. If they push back, here is the law on it, and one sentence usually ends the conversation.

Tell them before any work starts, so there is no confusion later about where the estimate goes.

Then, we take it from there

We write the estimate, open and manage the claim, order parts, and file supplements if we find damage the first look missed, which is common. You get one phone number for the whole repair instead of chasing three.

Over 30 years on Airline Drive. We work with all insurance companies and are recognized and authorized by most major carriers.
